Before any of our rescue Goldens are placed in permanent homes they are vet checked, spayed/neutered (if necessary), heartworm checked (if positive treated and if negative placed on preventative). All are fully vaccinated (including Bordetella/Kennel Cough), and micro-chipped .

Please consider making a monetary donation -- saving these stray, abandoned, and neglected Goldens is a huge financial undertaking and all donations will be gratefully received.  Donations may be sent to HGRR at the address below, or you  may make a donation with your (please call 865/765-8808 (voice mail)) or donate via

. Please make checks payable to Heartland GRR. All donations are tax deductable.

Foster homes are an urgent need as well. Please consider offering a temporary home to a dog that may not have been offered much before it was admitted into our program.  Fostering a Golden in your home will help us better evaluate his or her temperment, and also help us in placing the dog in the right permanent home.  Having dogs in foster homes also helps us cut back on our kennel expenses, and the Goldens love it.

We also need volunteers to help out in these areas:

  • Socializing and walking our rescues that are boarded at local boarding kennels.
  • Fund raiser activities such as Craft Making , Sewing, and Dog Washes.
  • Transportation for vet visits and for TAGs (Transport a Golden) in Tennessee and other states; if you would like to sign up for this please contact the number below
  • home visits to evaluate prospective adoptive families.

If you can help out in any of these areas please contact:
